BRECKSVILLE – The 2013 Bees left their legacy on the field with a 10-2 record and by shattering team and individual records, both with their offensive firepower and their ability to play an aggressive, swarming style on the defensive side of the ball.

In the process three Brecksville-Broadview Heights football players were named to the All-Oho teams that were announced by the Associated Press on Monday.

Timmy Tupa, a 6-2, 190-pound senior quarterback, was named to the AP’s Division II All-Ohio high school football team, based on the recommendations of a state media panel. Tupa, who was a third-team All-Ohio pick last year as a wide receiver, has achieved being named as one of the states top players at two different positions.

That accomplishment is so rare that it may be unprecedented.

Fellow Bees Troy Lang and Jay Rose were named to the All-Oho third-team. Lang is a 5-11, 190-pound senior defensive end and Rose is a 6-2, 220-pound senior linebacker.

“These are excellent awards that are very well-deserved. Timmy, Troy and Jay all own their own piece of the Brecksville football record book, whether it is sacks, tackles, scoring, passing, etc. Whatever it is they have left their mark on our program,” said BBHHS head coach Jason Black. “The award for all three players should help their recruiting since only a select few across the state of Ohio are honored. It puts them into an elite class.”

Tupa, who was the Southwestern Conference’s Most Valuable Player as well as the Northeast Lakes District, Division II Offensive Player of The Year, is in rare air. It has been that kind of season and career for the Bees number 9.

“It’s the cherry on top of a special senior year for me,” Tupa said earlier this week. “I got third-team All-Ohio last year as a receiver and this year I got first-team as a quarterback. That’s pretty special. I don’t know if anyone’s ever done that at two positions.”

Tupa, as always, gave the credit to his teammates. “Basically it was a team effort the whole year. Our line did a great job this year. Our receivers did a tremendous job with yards after catch and our running backs did a great job all year long,” said Tupa.

“Timmy being a two-time All-Ohio honoree is very special. And the accomplishments of all three will forever be recognized by the school by putting their pictures up in the cafeteria,” said Coach Black.
